No, eSIMs typically cannot be reinstalled once removed. We strongly recommend not deleting an eSIM that you still intend to use.
If an eSIM is removed from your device, attempting to download it again may result in an error. To restore connectivity, you’ll need to purchase, install, and activate a new eSIM.
Instead of removing your eSIM, we recommend temporarily disabling it when not in use. However, please note that your validity period does not pause while the eSIM is disabled.
Why You Should Not Remove an Active eSIM
Unlike traditional physical SIM cards that can be swapped between devices, eSIMs are tied to your device’s hardware and cannot be easily transferred or reinstalled.
When an eSIM’s validity period expires or runs out of data, you may still be able to top up your existing eSIM rather than purchasing a new one. To check if top-ups are available, go to:
1. My eSIMs
2. Select your active eSIM
3. Tap TOP UP and choose a package
Why You Might Want to Temporarily Disable Your eSIM
If you want to conserve data or prevent background usage while traveling, disabling your eSIM is a better alternative to removing it. This keeps your eSIM in a dormant state until you’re ready to reactivate it.
To Disable an eSIM on iOS:
1. Go to Settings > Cellular > SIMs
2. Select the eSIM you want to disable
3. Toggle Turn This Line On off
To Disable an eSIM on Android:
1. Go to Settings > SIM cards & mobile networks
2. Scroll to Manage eSIM and select the relevant eSIM
3. Tap Disable from the “Disable mobile plan” prompt
Keep in mind that disabling your eSIM does not deactivate it permanently—you can re-enable it anytime.
