Why Am I Seeing the ‘Cellular Plans From This Carrier Cannot Be Added’ Error?
If you’re encountering this error message while installing your eSIM, it typically means your device is network-locked by your current carrier. When a device is locked, it can only use SIMs and eSIMs from that specific provider, preventing you from adding encryptSIM or any other third-party eSIM.
If you see this message, it's likely that your phone is SIM-locked
How to Check if Your Device is Locked
Follow these steps to verify your device’s lock status:
1. Go to Settings on your iPhone.
2. Tap General > About.
3. Scroll down to Carrier Lock.
4. If your device is unlocked, you will see: “No SIM restrictions.”
5. If your device is locked, it will display the name of the carrier that locked it.
How to Unlock Your Device
If your device is locked, you’ll need to contact your carrier to request an unlock. Many providers require that you meet certain conditions, such as completing your contract or paying off your device in full.
Once your carrier confirms the unlock, restart your phone and attempt to install your encryptSIM again. In some cases, even after unlocking, eSIM functionality may be temporarily restricted by your carrier for security reasons. If this happens, request that they manually enable eSIM activation.
If you’ve confirmed that your device is unlocked but are still seeing this error, reach out to encryptSIM support for further troubleshooting.
