eSIM help

What if my device is network or carrier-locked?

Understand carrier locks and what to do before installing an encryptSIM eSIM on a phone bought from a mobile carrier.

If you bought your device through a mobile carrier, it may be network or carrier-locked. This restricts which other carriers’ SIMs and eSIMs it can use.

Contact the carrier that locked the device

Before buying an encryptSIM plan, ask your original carrier whether your device is unlocked and supports eSIM use with other providers. If it is locked, request an unlock and confirm any eligibility requirements. encryptSIM cannot remove a carrier lock.

Check your device after unlocking

Confirm that the unlock is complete before installing your eSIM. On iPhone, check Settings > General > About > Carrier Lock; “No SIM restrictions” indicates that the iPhone is unlocked. For other devices, ask your carrier how to verify the status.

If installation still fails after unlocking, contact your carrier to confirm the unlock and eSIM support. Regional variants can differ even when they share a model name.

Need help?

Contact encryptSIM support with your device model and the exact error message. Do not delete an installed eSIM as a troubleshooting step without checking its reinstallation rules first.
