‘Unable to Complete Cellular Plan Change’ Error Message

If you encounter the “Unable to Complete Cellular Plan Change” error while installing your encryptSIM eSIM, the issue may be caused by one of the following factors:

1. Too Many eSIMs Installed on Your Device

Most eSIM-compatible devices allow you to store multiple eSIM profiles, but the number of eSIMs that can be stored or activated simultaneously depends on your device model. For example:

iPhones can store between 5 to 10 eSIMs, depending on the model.

Android devices (Samsung Galaxy, Google Pixel) typically allow 5 to 7 stored eSIMs, but only one or two can be active at a time.

If your device has reached its eSIM storage limit, you may need to remove old eSIMs before installing a new one. You can follow our instructions here: [How to Remove an eSIM from Your Device]

2. Cellular Data is Disabled

Your eSIM installation requires cellular or Wi-Fi connectivity. If cellular data is turned off, the installation process may fail.

iOS: Go to Settings > Cellular/Mobile Data and ensure cellular data is enabled.

Android: Go to Settings > Network & Internet > SIMs and enable mobile data.

3. Attempting to Install a Previously Installed eSIM

Most eSIMs are one-time installations and cannot be reinstalled once removed. If you try to install an eSIM that was previously activated on your device, you may encounter this error.

To check if your eSIM is already installed:

iOS: Go to Settings > General > About and scroll down to find the ICCID (a 20-digit number starting with 89XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX).

Android: Go to Settings > About Phone > SIM Status and check the ICCID.

If the ICCID is listed, your eSIM is installed but may need adjustments to function properly. Refer to your eSIM installation page for troubleshooting steps.

4. Poor Internet Connection During Installation

A weak or unstable network connection—such as public Wi-Fi, in-flight Wi-Fi, or ship Wi-Fi—can interrupt the eSIM installation process. If you experience this error:

• Try switching to a stable private Wi-Fi or use your device’s primary SIM connection if available.

• Restart your device and attempt the installation again.
